Well, we had some decent weather this week, so we got to make more progress with winter Prepping the Garden.
This week really was a team effort. Daddy and Tommy topped off beds and inground sections with goat manure compost; Vicky, Maggy, and Emma helped top the compost with sawdust; I laid out 2 layers of black plastic over the cardboard we already put down over our weeded section of the back garden area.
We also decided to prune and harvest the still green Roma Tom’s that were growing, don’t want them ruined from a hard frost.
It was really funny watching the kids stop in front of my phone periodically, as we worked, to give their own commentary, haha!
We also made a fresh batch of copper sulfate and sent a goat off to the butcher this week. Don’t worry, these projects didn’t make it into this week’s video, want to give grace for those who don’t feel comfortable watching such things. I was impressed our girls enjoyed watching the goat be processed after it was slaughtered though. We prepare the kids ahead of time on which animals are for food, when the time is coming, and why that animal has been selected for being food. Every animal here has a purpose, most are for breeding and milk or wool; but almost all can also be used for meat when the need arises.
This week I’m hoping to sort through some seeds and get paper envelopes to organize seeds better; as well as make a list of any seeds we may need to restock for spring planting.
Well, it was VERY wet this week, so we didn’t get to do much in the garden. But we still managed to make good use of our time. Sunday the boys (my hubby with our son, Tommy) used the excavator to top up a couple garden beds and finish topping the inground section of the garden. And while they did that I harvested Marigold flowers.
Next, we sorted the flowers so that we had the wilted flowers in a pile separate from the flowers with fresh blossoms. We then harvested the seeds, dried them out and bagged them, and hung the remaining blossoms to dry for harvesting seed from later.
I’d like to cut down the remaining row of marigold plants and cover that area with new compost to have it prepped for next year. We also need to trim down and harvest more calendula flowers, so will likely do that this week.
Well, kids and I have been working hard in the garden every day this week. Taking dead plants out of garden beds, moving the potato patch to a new spot; harvesting potatoes, lemon cukes, figs, tomatoes, herbs…
And of course a whole lot of weeding!
The kids have been great helpers, but my body is sore and ready for a rest! Thank you, Lord for bringing us the weekly Shabbat, so that we may rest from our labor and be refreshed by your goodness!
Got one whole side of the garden done far as weeding and cleaning up, will be adding some compost to a couple beds and the inground section in the next day or two. And we cleaned up the flower beds along the back fence and the herb garden area.
This coming week we’ll be weeding and cleaning up the beds on the other side of the garden, and finalize prepping for overwintering some plants, harvest more herbs, and top up garden beds at that end with fresh compost and top soil.
There’s something deeply powerful about the journey of becoming, the slow unfolding of who you are meant to be. The path isn’t straight, and it’s rarely easy, but it’s sacred. Because every turn, every climb, every valley is shaping you into someone who reflects the light of Yahuah in a way no one else can.
You were never meant to rush this process. Growth takes time. Healing takes surrender. And sometimes, the most beautiful seasons of transformation happen in the quiet, hidden places of the heart where only Yahuah can see.
You may not notice it while you’re in it, but you are being renewed. The woman you used to be had to fade so the woman you were called to become could rise. There’s purpose in the pruning, even when it hurts. There’s beauty in the breaking, even when you can’t see it yet.
Every step on this road is teaching you to trust Him more. To let go of what was, and to walk forward into what is being made new. He’s not just changing your circumstances, He’s refining your spirit, your thoughts, your perspective. He’s awakening the light within you that was always meant to shine.
There’s a road within each of us, winding through lessons, tears, joy, and grace. The closer you walk with Him, the more that road begins to feel like home. Because He’s not waiting for you at the destination, He’s walking right beside you now.
So keep going, even when the way feels steep. Let His presence steady your steps. Let His truth be the light that guides you forward. You are becoming everything He intended and every step is part of the masterpiece He’s creating in you.

I found this article on Facebook this week. I felt so much of it’s truths in my very soul. The last few years have been brutal, fraught with betrayal, lies, deception, heartbreak. But this is not the end of the journey. Its just a phase, a time of refinement. I’m not alone here, my Salvation is right beside me. He’s waiting for me to fully surrender all the hurt, all the betrayal, all the unforgiveness to him. Truly, fully.
We’ve lost babies, we lost friends, we lost family members. But we never lost the one “who sticks closer than a brother.”
I’m no where near the person I was 5 years ago, but I know I don’t want to stay stuck in the hurt and the anger that has attached to me in recent times. I want to be changed, to do better, to be better. I want the people who’ve hurt me to one day see where im at and be like, “Wow, God really has his hand on her life!”
I want my life to reflect His goodness, His kindness, His forgiveness, His Faithfulness. Regardless of how I’m treated. I want to let go of all the dreams that have been lost and dashed to millions of pieces, so I can follow His dreams for me and my children. I want to eb used by Him for His purposes. And I want to live my life in a way that truly reflects His character to the world so others can see HIM through my life.
I hope this blesses someone out there. And if I’m the only one that reads this, then that means I’m the one that it was meant for. For we know his words “Will Not Return To Me Empty, But Will Accomplish Whatever It Was Sent Out To Do.” So even if I’m the only one who reads this, it was worth the time to write and share.
I thought I’d start sharing our weekly reading assignments. I’m posting these as a way to keep myself accountable to actually do the required reading during the week with my kids.
These reading assignments include what is the “Weekly Torah Portion”, which is based off the yearly cycle of reading through the whole Torah (first 5 books of the bible) each year. And then theres also a portion from the Prophets and the Brit Hadasha (New Testament).
You can read along with us this year or not, totally up to you. Im just posting so folks who would like to can follow along as desired.
